HOUSE & GROUNDS
Backwell House is a Georgian country house complete with nooks, crannies and curiosities galore. With its quirky interiors and beautiful surroundings, Backwell House is a dream location for unique weddings and staff parties without bounds.
The quintessentially English house was built in 1817 and has a rich and fascinating history peppered with Bristol legends. Legend has it the Grace family played the Robinson family on the pitch that once stood in the field beyond the haw haw. Paying homage to the unusual and extraordinary, and with classic Georgian charm in spades, it's the ideal cosy escape for the wild and the free.
THE CIDER BARREL BAR
Our unique ground-floor bar is a spectacular location for lunch-time bubbles or a late-night scotch on the rocks.
ORNAMENTAL WALLED GARDEN
It’s beautiful in summer bloom, busy with butterflies and bees, earthworms and the odd sparrow. In the winter, when the beds are cut back, you’ll see robins perching: sit in our cosy conservatory and survey the scene.
Our cosy lounge with log fire and well-worn leather armchairs is the perfect place to while away the hours with a good book.
Our stunning interconnected dining rooms and conservatory can seat up to 60 people. We host supper clubs and private parties, and this is also where we'll serve you breakfast.
We source all our produce from the farms on our doorstop, and all our meat is reared just metres from the house. We also grow our own herbs and veggies: there's no fresher flavour than greens picked straight from the garden.
WALKS & RAMBLES
Backwell is surrounded by beautiful Somerset countryside. We highly recommend taking a stroll and exploring the area.
OH MY... THE STARS
We can’t take the credit – not really – but on a clear, crisp night, we must tell you, the sky is totally unbelievable here at Backwell.
